Supporting the Big Bear Alpine Zoo
at Moonridge since 1989

About the Friends

The Friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo’s mission is to support the Big Bear Alpine Zoo by inspiring understanding, respect and environmentally responsible action for the conservation of wildlife and wildlife habitat through: public education, volunteer support, fundraising and development, and key project financial support.

The Friends of the Moonridge Zoo was established in 1989 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. During the July 2012 Board of Directors meeting, the directors agreed to add a DBA and operate as the Friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. The DBA aligns the Friends’ name with the new name for the Moonridge Animal Park, which is the Big Bear Alpine Zoo at Moonridge.
